How to Chose Pageant Dresses For Girls

What dress and accessories is appropriate for my young daughter who wants to join pageants?

Girl beauty pageants may be considered a fluff event by some, but really, girl pageants are like any competitive sport. Young children study, train and focus to win. Learning the proper ways to walk and stand, minding one's manners, and thinking quickly under pressure is also a long process that requires focus, discipline and endurance. Just like any other sport, parents are expected to spend on pageant dresses, training, other costumes and coaches. As with any sport, a child learns to fore go the desire to play to do what is required to win.

As with sports, your child will also learn to put her best foot forward in pageants. She will learn the confidence to face and talk to people. A young girl will learn how to dress and charm people. She will learn to handle pressure. She will learn how to deal with victory and defeat. Pageants may build character too, depending on the guidance of the adult.

Some people view girl pageants with distaste. Always this is due to any pageant factor taken to the extreme. Crazy costumes and make-up that make children look like skanky miniature adults may be a reason behind this. Guardians' extreme manner of pushing young girls to win may add to the distaste.

If your little girl is interested in joining pageants, families may encourage her to do so, as long as goals and values are clear to the family. Young girls like to doll up in pageant dresses, be pretty and to win. That's a given. It is up to the parents to put balance and be vigilant to the best interest of a child's health, values and over-all character. After all, that's what parents want for their children, right?

The key to all this is balance. Let your daughter be the best she can be, in a manner that is most appropriate to her age and well-being. Pageants can bring out her best character, but parents should step up to provide the balance to looks and character.

Dressing for Girl Pageants

Being age-appropriate in a girl pageant does not mean your little girl has to be ugly or boring. On the contrary, young girls are bursting with natural beauty and joy. Overdoing things causes a natural beauty to be blah and icky.

Formal dresses for Girls

The styles of formal dresses for girls are classic. Whatever era, young girls always look cute and fresh in regular sleeveless with medium waist and long skirt in formal fabric. Other styles for sleeves can be cute, but long sleeves may not be comfortable for a young girl (and look dated too.) Fabrics should be beautiful but not fragile for a young girl, who may get to become fussy or restless, and may ruin too-fragile fabrics.

The color of the dress can be light or pastel. Pink is a common color for young girls, but there are a lot of other colors out there that can help express the personality of your young pageant contestant. A different color dress will also help her stand out. Happy earth colors can also be worn, as well as jewel tones, if in season (usually during the fall). Or, use earth colors and jewel tones as accessories to a light colored dress. Black is usually too severe and looks weird for a young girl.

The dress can also be embroidered or embellished, but keep embellishments tiny and tasteful to be suited to a young girl.

Shoes

Shoes should be pretty, but comfortable. Young girls can wear Mary Janes or flat pumps with formal embellishments. High heeled shoes are bad for the back and legs.

Hair

Girls have beautiful hair. Show it off in its natural state. Let it loose and clip with pretty bling barrette, or sweep away from the face with a pretty bling head band. Mom can also tie it up in pigtails or braids. Young girls do use pigtails and braids.

Any hairstyle that requires a gallon of hairspray is most likely too severe-looking. It is also not healthy for a young girl for her hair to be teased, tugged and pulled and laden with chemicals.

Makeup

Girls are naturally pretty. They have the best skin and lips. Using lipstick and thick foundation gives a fake look. Young girls with heavy makeup similar to adults are an eyesore. Try using lip gloss and light touch of baby powder. If you are concerned that your little one will look too pale on the stage at night, do test make up during the general rehearsal when the actual lights to be used are also tested. Make sure the make up is minimized and enhances her natural beauty. Less is more for makeup on kids.

Accessories

Shawls wraps may not be comfortable on a young girl. These may also be left behind when our young contestant dashes off somewhere. If the weather is cold, get her a jacket or wrap suited for her formal dress. Maybe faux-jewelry is best used for pageants, as it easy to lose things during an event as busy as a pageant. Handbags for young girls may be uncomfortable, ask your little girl if she feels comfortable lugging a bag around. Pretty sashes can also be used to enhance your little girl's pageant dress.

Young girls in pageants may enjoy the attention and being pretty. The pretty pageant dress, the makeup, the hair may seem shallow, but behind all this, the little girl is forming her character and confidence. And these are things parents do develop in their children, even in other more "normal" activities.

Dress Up Girls Are Creative

There are only so many activities online that you can legitimately claim as creative. Dress up girls fall into this category easily. To play the games you will select a doll base that often looks a great deal like a Barbie doll and then start selecting fashions for her online. This gives you endless choices and variety about how to piece together her different looks. The fun never ends because there are truly no limits to how many different outfits you can create. Piece one together and save it. Then pull another one together and send it to a friend. Endless. Really.

Dress Up Girls Make For Good Conversation

If you and your friends are looking for something to work on together, dress up games are exactly what you need. To play together, you can actually sit down together at a computer and dress a doll or you can be at different corners of the world ready to challenge each other to a design contest. To make the dolls, you can choose a certain game and both "players" make a particular sort of outfit or design. After a set time limit, share your creation with the friend and enjoy the experience. How to Choose a First Communion Dress

It's your daughter's first communion and, like everyone else in your family, you are excited to see her take that step of faith. On that life-changing event, you want her to be ready inside and out. Your daughter's first communion is a very special occasion worth celebrating; this is why making this event sweet and memorable for your child is truly important. Your little girl wants to look her best for the Lord and you need to help make that happen.

As a parent, one of the first things you have to do is to coordinate with the organizers in your local Parish. Ask them what dress styles and colors are preferred and whether sleeves are required. Some churches prefer conservative or old-fashioned first communion dresses that cover girls' arms with sleeves. These dresses are formal gown length and usually have lots of beads and sequins that make your daughter look like a princess. If the Parish is okay with any formal communion dress then you can choose to be a little more stylish. Those who don't want to go for a traditional look can try sleeveless modern communion dresses. The most popular First communion dress is the classic style that is simple yet elegant in design. Classic style first communion dresses are usually tea length and have different styles of sleeves.

Finding a First communion dress is actually fun. You can choose to take your daughter to your favorite dress specialty store where she can fit the dresses. It's one of those mother-daughter tender moments you can cherish forever. Don't forget to ask how she feels about them and how she wants to look on her first communion. Your daughter's opinion matters. It's her moment, her event, and her dress. Once you've taken this to account and you have both agreed on what sort of style your daughter will wear for the occasion, it's time to go shopping!

Before making a purchase, make sure you've already been to the other shops and that you've done your math. If you're a working mom and are too busy to do that, you can simply go shopping with your daughter online. Just make sure to shop for first communion dresses it 3-4 weeks before the event to allow extra time for shipment or any alterations.

Completing the Ensemble

The Accessories:
A pair of simple earrings (such as pearls, or tiny faux-diamonds) will work equally well with the special outfit. Bracelets and necklaces are fashionable but make sure your daughter doesn't accessorize too much that she starts to get make that "ka-chunk" sound when she moves. The right amount of jewelry can help put together an angelic look, but remember that accessories can make or break her outfit.

The Shoes:
Find shoes that will complement your daughter's elegant communion dress. Choose either white or black shoes. Remember to get shoes that are comfortable yet elegant for the occasion. First communion children will be asked to stand up several times during the rites, so make sure her shoes are comfortable. You can also let your daughter pick between wearing lacy socks or white stockings to add cushion to those precious feet.

The Veil and the Gloves:
Veils and gloves symbolize purity. Picking out a veil and a pair of gloves for your daughter is easy. Just like first communion dresses, they are readily available in regular retail shops and online stores. They come in different lengths and designs.

With your little girl wearing the right First communion dress, people might just mistake her for an angel!

Flapper Dresses and Kissproof Lips - Ladettes of the 1920s

The flapper girl was a phenomenon of the 1920s. The term referred to young women who wore dresses that came to the knee, had short hair that was styled into a bob and who liked to listen to the new music of the time called Jazz. These women were the laddettes of their time. They went out drinking, liked to smoke and wore very striking make-up. The make-up usually consisted of bright red lipsticks and heavily made up eyes. This was particularly striking as the women tended to have very pale skin.

During this period of time, flapper dresses were in vogue. Women wore dresses that were loose fitting and had a dropped waist. This was in complete contrast to the clothing of their mothers, which included fitted undergarments and long dresses that exposed no skin at all. Lots of flapper dresses were short sleeved with many having embellishments such as beading, fringing and decorative lace.

Ladies legs were definitely on show during this era with women wearing sheer stockings and garters along with high heeled T Bar shoes. These elongated the leg and could be very provocative when the women did the energetic dances of the time such as the Charleston and the Bunny Hug.

In today's society ladies face no taboos about how they dress, look are act. We are free to wear our skirts as short as we like, wear as much make up as we like and drink as much as we like. The flapper girls of the 1920s were forward thinking for their time and without them, we may not have enjoyed the freedoms that we now have. I therefore salute those ladies with their flapper dresses and kissproof lips.

How Should I Choose the Best Eyelashes?

False eyelashes were once reserved for theatrical performances and cabaret dancers. In the last couple of years however fake eyelashes have really come into their own and women of all ages, from young girls to grannies, are trying them out. This is in part due to the fact that they are such a fun accessory to wear. They are simple to apply and the transformation that they can make to your face is truly astounding.

The only hard part to wearing false eyelashes lies in the decision making process of which are the best eyelashes for the occasion? As well as the multitude of different kinds; strip, individual, clump, handmade, real hair, synthetic fibre, mink, fox, multicoloured, embellished, natural looking, the list is endless, so where exactly should you begin?

You should always begin by considering the occasion before anything else.

Is it a party you are attending? If so, then more than likely anything goes. If it is a funeral you are attending, then it is more likely you will want to play it safe with black. If however you just want to wear fake eyelashes on a daily basis, then perhaps you will be looking for something a little more natural looking.

Next you should consider the company you will be in. If you are attending a party full of fun-loving individuals and you want to make a statement and be noticed, then you could opt for a pair of brightly coloured outlandish eyelashes. If your party is more elegant in design, then you could choose something like Lightning Lashes Stormy Skies, which gives you black lashes with a couple of elegant feather plumes, or you may prefer something with a little sparkle or shine.

Strip lashes are very quick and easy to apply, they are usually worn for the occasion and then removed straight afterward. They can be reused, but you must care for them carefully and remove any glue which remains on the strip. Individual Lashes are applied individually to your lash line, this process is much more fiddly, but they then tend to stay in place for anything up to a month. Clump lashes are also applied individually, but they come in little clumps of 3 to 4 lashes at a time. These lashes tend to stay on for approximately one week.

Individual and clump lashes are usually just an enhancement of your own natural lashes. A procedure that allows you to portray the impression of longer, thicker, eyelashes, which can usually passed off as your own. Strip lashes come in many shapes and sizes, with some fabulous designs, colours and embellishments to accessorize with style. Matching your outfit or just making a statement, strip lashes can be a lot of fun.

Finally it really comes down to personal preference, budget and your individual style and taste. Lightning Lashes is a great online boutique for you to get some ideas for the best eyelashes for the occasion.

At the end of the day you want to look good and feel great. If you have never tried them then you don't know what you are missing. As well as changing your look entirely, false eyelashes are a great talking point and fab way to make new friends whilst having fun in to the bargain.

If you would like to test out false eyelashes some of the best eyelashes for elegance, fun or fancy dress can be found at Lightning Lashes.

Girl Dress Up Games - Hannah Montana Dress Up

Miley Cirus is one of the most famous Pop music star of today. She has been selected to play the character of Hannah Montana in television shows, as well as in movie presentations. But her reach doesn't stop there, she can also be found as the main character in a flash game application dedicated to the famous Hannah Montana character. As the story line for this dress up game goes Hannah Montana is late for her next presentation, and the player is required to lend a helping hand in order to help her get ready.

It is a very fun girl game in which the player if confronted with a nice mixture of playing a dress up game and a short term memory test. This is due to the fact that the player will not only enjoy himself with the game side of the application, but will also put himself through a short term memory test as she attempts to collect all the items necessary to dress the character, which are spread all over the room. All this must be done within the specified time frame, since the player will be constantly advised of the time remaining before the limousine will arrive to pick her up. The arrangement of features and game plot make this free dress up game an excellent tool to help children develop their brain motor functions.

Keeping in mind that Hannah Montana is a fun and dynamic character, it shouldn't come as a surprise that her attire is just as fun and colorful. The game even includes the choice of a guitar to go along with her clothes in order to have her all set up for the concert. This dress up game can also be played in groups, with friends and family. It is an excellent activity to share designs, opinions, or even compete against each other for the player who can finish the attire in the least amount of time.

Actual game play is simple and very straight forward. Once we have completed a design for the star of the show, Hannah Montana, we must quickly gather all the clothing to be worn from those scattered all over the room, collect the appropriate accessories, and of course the guitar to go along with it. This activity must be done in a race against the clock, since the time is running out and the limousine which will pick her up is approaching. Faster dress up times will translate in bonus points for the player.

Overall, Hannah Montana dress up is a fun and entertaining application appropriate for all ages. It is a free online game available through many free arcade game websites in the Internet. This game will not only allow kids to enjoy themselves, but also work on their mental agility, short term memory and general motor functions.

Finding Some Great Baby Girl Dresses

It can be difficult to find just the right outfit for your baby with all the baby girl dresses that are available nowadays. You have to consider the style and attractiveness when it come to choosing a great dress for your little one. Comfort and durability are also part of the process of finding the right outfit. I discovered that comfort was not incorporated into the design of some baby girl dresses. A dress can be appealing to the eye but it may not appealing to a small child's sensitive skin. Rough, stiff fabrics that do not move with the infant can lead to an unhappy experience. The fabrics on baby girl dresses will definitely feel rough on your infant's skin if they feel rough to your hands.

Parents can often find markings and indentations on their child's skin when their daughters wear certain baby girl dresses. Stiff lace and tight elastic can leave tell-tale signs that the outfit is uncomfortable. You should avoid these uncomfortable components when you are shopping for your baby's dress. It is a good idea to check the arms, neck and waistbands for tight elastic if you are shopping for baby girl dresses.

I was able to learn this lesson the hard way. A month ago, I bought an adorable yellow dress for my daughter's first professional photography session. I committed the mistake of buying the outfit without really feeling the fabric. I would have kept shopping for a more comfortable infant attire if I had felt the rough taffeta that was going to be next to my baby's skin. I also made the mistake of waiting until I got to the photography studio to put the dress on my daughter. The expression on the professional photographer's face gave me the feeling that things were not going to run smoothly.

I answered with a relieved affirmative when she asked if I brought along other baby girl dresses for the session. I also complied when she asked if we could save the dressy dress for last. Let mere tell you that I was so glad that I took her advice. The first group of shots was met with delightful smiles and coy expressions that only an infant possesses. The photographer captured the rare images perfectly.

However, my daughter's mood changed completely when I put her in the yellow outfit. She struggled and cried and just wouldn't sit still when wearing the outfit. We quit right then and there after we got one acceptable picture. I kept the stiff baby girl dresses as decoration in my daughter's room because she likes to look at them but she hates to wear them.

Top 10 Ways to Reuse a Flower Girl Dress

A flower girl always wears a fashionable, beautiful dress. The dress, however, can be found in various styles. A girl can wear an Easter dress, a holiday gown, or even a sundress for a casual summer wedding. Similarly, a dress can be worn for other special occasions. Indeed, there are numerous ways to reuse a flower girl dress.

Top 10 Tips

1. Keep It For The Future

Wedding dresses and christening gowns are often preserved to become heirloom dresses. Not as many flower girl dresses are preserved in this manner. Yet these gowns can be kept for future generations. Many preservation companies who work with wedding dresses will also take care of these dresses. Preservation kits can also be purchased for preparing the dress at home.

2. Attend A Special Occasion

These lovely dresses can be used at future special occasions such as birthdays and holidays. Rich velvet dresses are perfect for Christmas celebrations. Soft pastel dresses look elegant at Easter. Dresses with removable sashes or flowers can always get a special new look.

3. Go To A Tea Party

Every day can be a special occasion. Little girls love tea parties. Turn a summer afternoon into craft/tea party time. Children can decorate wide brim straw hats with flowers and ribbons. The afternoon ends with a tea party where every little girl wants to look their best.

4. Wear Wonderful White

White is the most popular color for these dresses. The mini-bride dress is always a beautiful white. White dresses can be used for any upcoming religious celebrations - First Communion, Confirmation, later-life Baptism, or other church presentations. Adding appropriate accessories (jackets, boleros, headpieces, veils) creates a new look. Remove a colored sash from a white dress and the result can be an elegant communion dress.

5. Make It Green

Modern weddings are often eco-friendly weddings. Previously loved dresses are ideal for green weddings. Pass a dress on to a green bridal party.

6. Work For Charity

Certain charitable organizations accept gently worn formal attire. They resell the clothing to raise funds for worthwhile projects. Other retailers sell recycled dresses and then donate a percentage of their profits to charities. Donating a flower girl dress can make a dream come true for another child. Check out the charities in your local area.

7. Play Dress-Up

When you're a little girl, you don't need a special occasion or even a tea party to have fun. Children are only limited by their imagination and every child loves to play dress-up. Flower girl dresses turn little girls into little princesses. Wearing ballet slippers with a flowing dress transforms a young lady into a beautiful ballerina. Capture these special moments in photos. Dress-up allows children to have fun while expressing their creativity.

8. Go To A Play

When acting out a play at home, it helps to have a lovely dress for the leading lady. Special dresses come in handy for school concerts or drama club performances. Budding actresses shine in divine dresses.

9. Share The Beauty

This beautiful dress can bring a touch of beauty to many lives. Its fine fabrics can be turned into sachets, memory pillows, or even table skirts. Pieces of the dress can also be used to make a recycled dress. This fabric can be passed on to a seamstress or anyone with a talent for sewing can use the material at home. A seamstress can use a bodice from one dress and match it with sleeves from another dress. Exquisite details such as lace and beading can be added to make an unique dress.

10. Have A Creative Halloween

The dress can also be part of a Halloween costume. The possibilities are endless for a creative Halloween outfit. White dresses can help little ones turn into lovely princesses or even scary ghosts. Any dress with a deep, rich, autumn color, such as dark brown, can match the Halloween spirit. Black dresses add a look of mystery and magic to Halloween. Black dresses are very trendy, especially with the increasing number of black and white weddings.

Regardless of color, these lovely dresses can have a life beyond the weddings. They can be enjoyed in the present or in the future. A beautiful dress, however, shouldn't just hang around without a purpose. Unless it is being preserved as a heirloom, the dress should be at the center of a little girl's life. The flower girl dress can continue to be part of fun, laughter, and happiness.

Types and Styles of Flower Girl Dresses

When selecting a flower girl dress for your wedding, there are many things to consider - the age and height of the flower girl, wedding colors, dress length, dress style, and so forth. The first step is to know what styles of flower girl dresses are available. This quick guide outlines the types of dresses in the market so you can find that perfect, adorable dress.

Flower Girl Dress Bodice and Skirt

Flower girl dresses are made of two parts - the bodice and the skirt. The bodice is the upper portion of the dress from the neckline and shoulders to the waistline, or just above the waistline, depending on the dress. The skirt is the bottom portion of the dress. There are different styles of both sections, and varying combinations using these styles.

Princess Flower Girl Dresses

Most flower girls want to look like a princess in their dress. They want to look and feel fancy just like the bride and bridesmaids. There are some flower girl dresses that are designed to look like princess dresses. These often have a full skirt with lots of frills, lace, beads, flowers, or ribbons. Some princess styles to look for include dresses with a satin bodice and a double-layered full tulle skirt. These often have a ribbon wrapped around the dress above the waistline with a flower or bow. A crinoline or a hoop slip can be added under the skirt to give an even fuller look.

Pleated Skirts

Skirts with pleats may not sound typical of flower girl dresses, but they are actually very pretty, especially the longer, box-pleated skirts. Pleated skirts are not as full as the princess-type skirts, but can still be very decorative. Box-pleated skirts have wide, even pleats that run vertically down the skirt's length and appear to spread wider apart toward the bottom of the skirt. Pleated flower girl dresses are classical in style and offer a simple, yet elegant touch to any wedding.

Gathered, Pulled, Puffed, and Scattered!

This may sound like a messy way to describe a flower girl dress style, but it's really a very beautiful design. With this type of dress, the skirt's upper layer of cloth, satin, or lace is gathered at the hemline and/or at certain points throughout, and then pulled and puffed at these points. This gives a semi-wrinkled look. With scattered flowers or roses at the gathered points, this style creates a dashing look for the flower girl!

Pick-Up Skirt

The pick-up design is often used on a full or a-line skirt. Pieces of fabric are gathered at the hemline, allowing other parts to drape in a curve around the hemline of the skirt. This simple added touch makes any plain skirt look elegant and graceful.

A-Line, Asymmetric, or Column Skirt

The a-line skirt hugs the waist and flows outward toward the hemline without the appearance of a full skirt. Asymmetric skirts are similar to the a-line, but with an unusual pattern line that runs the full length of the dress. A column skirt or column dress is a straight dress with a bias-type cut and vertical seams, which gives the long, slender look. This might not be the best choice for little girls, but for older, taller girls near teenage years, it can be an excellent choice.

Bodices and Sleeves

Bodices may be plain satin or decorated with lace, flowers, or pearls. The bodice might be pleated, embroidered, or feature scattered flowers or roses. There are also varying styles of necklines such as halter, sweetheart, v-neckline, scoop, or boat neckline. The sweetheart neckline is shaped similar to a heart. The v-neckline comes to a perfect V shape from the shoulders to the middle of the upper chest. The scoop neckline offers a slight curve around the neck. The boat neckline curves in a wide range from shoulder to shoulder. The halter neckline has wide straps that wrap around the neck, similar to a halter top. Flower girl dresses may be sleeveless or feature halter straps, thin spaghetti (or wider) straps, short or long sleeves, or puff sleeves.

Flower girl dresses can also come with jackets, gloves, shawls, and other items to complete the outfit. When choosing a flower girl dress, consider the styles of other dresses being worn in the wedding. The flower girl dress can be unique in design, but should complement all the other dresses as well as the wedding colors.

You can use online resources to see photos of flower girl dresses and to get an idea of what styles are available. There are many children's boutiques or online stores that sell kids' special occasion clothing where you can view and purchase flower girl dresses. These shops may also offer other products such as boys' suits, christening dresses, or girls' communion dresses. Having just the right flower girl and flower girl dress will add that special touch to your wedding!

The major benefit of the online games is how relaxing they are. We live in a world of high speed action and immediate benefits. Now, now, now. But when you play fashion games, especially on the computer, you are able to slow down, pick and choose items carefully and then assemble them at your own pace. There is no demand. There is no deadline. The goal is to create something you think is beautiful or fun - and what can be more relaxing than that?

Dress Up Games Help You Spot Weight Issues

When you play dress up games in your own closet or in the dressing rooms, you might have a moment of shock when you realize that your favorite pants are pulling a bit at the waist. When you try on your clothing on a very regular basis, you learn how it fits you and lets you know immediately when a pound or two has crept onto your waist line or hips. The way your clothing fits can tell you how healthy you are overall and if your health has changed at all. This is not as true with clothing with spandex waists, however.

Dress Up Games Get Your Moving

When you are hauling clothing out of your closet and trying on every single piece, you are most certainly moving. Climbing up onto ladders to get those boxes of shoes and digging around to find the perfect accessories keep you standing up and away from the temptation of the television and vegging out. The more you move, the healthier you will be. Anyone who tried on clothing for hours, of course, knows exactly how exhausting that can be. You burn a surprising number of calories as you pull items on and off to see what still looks great.

Dress Up Games Boost Self Esteem

As you try on your favorite outfits, you will see how great you look wearing them. Looking good is something everyone wants to feel, and the more you play the games and learn what looks great on and what works well together, the more confident you will be in your appearance and the better you will feel about what you are wearing every day. It is a heady feeling to walk into a room knowing you look awesome, and that boost of self confidence is certainly something you will want to duplicate as often as possible.

'Tis the Season for Flower Girl Dresses and Children's Formal Wear

Spring is just around the corner, which means it's the season for children's formal wear. Weddings call for flower girl dresses and boy's tuxedos, as well as for First Communion dresses and boy's suits. What's in this season? Read on to find out!

Flower Girl Dresses

When it comes to flower girl dresses, you have several options that will bring smiles to the faces of your attendees, and make your flower girls feel like little princesses. A sleeveless satin bodice with a satin skirt and organza overlay is a simple but stunning combination. Scattered colored stones with a matching band at the waistband coordinates well with the attire of others in the bridal party. Depending on the age of the flower girl, choose either tea length or floor length.

For a feminine yet upscale look, choose a flower girl dress that is tiered in the back. A full peau satin skirt with one tier in front and three tiers in back, accented with a large bow with tails and fabric roses, will make the day special for both the flower girl and the bride.

If you're budget conscious, don't overlook some of the discount flower girl dresses that are available online. Just as beautiful as the pricier flower girl dresses, you can find satin and organza dresses, as well as tiered dresses, for between $35 and $80.

Communion Dresses

Every little girl will remember her First Communion for the rest of her life, so Communion dresses are an important part of the ritual. An organza scalloped princess style gown with coordinating veil will make her feel special, as will the simple lines of a satin Communion dress with lace and a removable bolero jacket.

Boy's Suits

This season, there are many choices for boy's suits. Whether it's his First Communion or whether he's attending in a family wedding, he'll be thrilled to wear a traditional five-piece suit. Double-breasted jackets are back in style, and come in white for the perfect First Communion outfit. For a more formal occasion, a boy's tuxedo - with or without tails - is always appropriate.

Christening Dresses

When it comes to girls' christening dresses there are many choices. An all-white batiste dress with smocking on a bodice dotted with white pearls, along with matching bloomers, is adorable. For more traditional christening dresses you can choose a length of up to 32 inches with intricate embroidery and a matching bonnet. Keep in mind that a christening dress is something that can be handed down for generations, so choosing a timeless style may be in order.

Christening Outfits for Boys

For boys, christening outfits are usually five-piece sets that consist of a shirt, pants, bowtie, vest, and hat. The typical pant length is either shorts or knickers. Some sets feature brocade, while others have satin trim.

How to Buy

With the Internet, a wide variety of children's formal wear is available at the click of a mouse. Plus, you're more likely to find discount flower girl dresses and bargains in children's formal wear at an online store. When ordering online, look for a company that not only offers flower girl dresses, boy's tuxedos, Communion dresses, and christening dresses, but that also asks you for the date of the event. Before ordering, check out the sizing charts, and don't hesitate to ask questions. Then, on the big day, make sure that your little ones enjoy themselves, and feel as special as they look!

Dressing Baby Girls - 5 Outfits That Make Her Look Like A Princess

As a new parent to a baby girl, most mothers love to shop for their clothes. Dresses that have frilly items. Mothers love to put their daughters in beauty pageants, not because it's a love for themselves but rather a love for showing their child off.

Most women love to place their daughters in dresses of red and pink that have ruffles or flowers or something to that extent that makes them different from boys.

The only sad part is that this stage will not last long... so mothers... it is important to remember these moment, cherish them all and take lots of pictures. Pretty soon, they will grow up and picking out what they want to wear.

There are five different looks a mother can dress her daughter in so that the little angel or darling in the sky is never considered for a boy. Who wants that?

1. Hand-Smocked Polly Flinders Dresses

Girls. They love to be dressed up as a baby and sometimes a toddler and nothing quite says "I am a girl" more than the hand smocked Polly Finder Dresses. When one woman was younger, she found a bunch of these dresses when her daughter was an infant. A bunch of vintage 1950s dresses for only a dollar apiece. These are hand smocked clothing that can be searched and found for a bargain of $45 to $175 for a few dozen of them.

2. Girl's Sailor Suit

This is a twist to a boy's sailor suit. All you have to do is get red satin ribbons and match it up with blue pin-dots and white embroidered collar and using a pint-sized sailor cap and you have a classic style of 1940s that never gets old. People will end up asking you where you got the sweet little outfit.

3. Ruffled Pinafores

This is the classic fairy tale dress: Alice in Wonderland. What is this dress? It is a gingham checked dress with puffed shoulders and a ruffled hem out from beneath a starched pinafore. The pinafore did start out as an apron. They were like this because it saved the dress underneath from getting stained or ruined for good. Not long after though they took a life of their own and are now used over an under dress. The ruffled hems, shoulders and dainty flowery and other embroidery are just some of the things that make this a classic for mothers to buy or make and for baby girls to wear.

4. Ruffled Panties

Girly panties - there is nothing more loving than having a row of ruffled lace peek out from underneath the hems of smocked baby dresses. The diaper covers with a ruffle bottom and the embroidered panties are meant to be peeking out are one of the major classics mothers just love to put their daughters in. This style never seems to age.

5. Velvet and Taffeta Roses

This is the classic dress for Christmas. Little girls can be seen wearing Taffeta and velvet with roses and lace at the waist. A traditional style is a red velvet bodice and ruffled plaid taffeta skirt. A tiny satin rose at the lace trimmed collar completes this outfit. Bolder mothers can dress their little girl up in a black velvet and pink satin dress.

Another type of dress is the pearl gray velvet dress with a white taffeta skirt styled with a full blown satin bow that is done with a baby soft pink.

Just remember that when your daughter gets older, it won't be near as much fun as it was before.

Five Places to Buy Discounted Flower Girl Dresses

Having a hard time finding discounted flower girl dresses? When I was planning my wedding, I wanted my three nieces to be my flower girls. My sister gladly agreed but we were both concerned with the expense she was would take on having to buy three flower girl dresses. I started doing some research and was able to come up with five great places to buy discounted flower girl dresses at:

Department Stores - Major department stores such as JCPenney, Macys, Sears, and others can be a great place to get a bargain on a flower girl dress especially if you have several months to search for one. Just watch for clearances after major holidays like Christmas and Easter. You can find holiday dresses that will work perfectly as a flower girl dress and they will be marked down 50-75% off and sometimes even more.

Craigslist - Keep an eye on the Craiglist listings in your area. This can be kind of hit and miss but you may be able to find someone selling a used flower girl dress in the size and style you are looking for.

Children's Consignment Shops - Check out the children's clothing consignment shops in your area. This may be another place that you might find a great holiday dress that will work great as a flower girl dress. Consignment shops typically sell items for far less than they originally retailed for and sometimes you may even find items there that still have the tags on them.

Bridal Salons - I worked at a Bridal Salon while I was in college. The store carried a sample of each of the Bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and flower girl dresses that they sold. When the style was discontinued, the salon would sell off the sample at a greatly discounted price. Usually they are in excellent condition and need nothing more than to be cleaned and ironed.

eBay - eBay is ultimately where my sister and I found flower girl dresses for my nieces. We paid $25 a piece for them and they were really beautiful. We got a lot of compliments on them. I do recommend making sure the seller has good feedback and ask questions if you need to know more about the dress.

So as you can see, there are a lot of places to find discounted flower girl dresses if you just know where to do a little digging!

Many dresses are made for smaller to average sized girls. When it comes to going to the prom there are many things to think about. The young ladies need to think about hair and makeup, transportation and more, and finding a prom dress cheap, not about their size!

You shouldn't have to worry about looking for prom dresses for cheap when you are a plus size girl. You can find the perfect dress if you know where to look and what to look for. One of the first things to do is set your budget. You don't want to be unrealistic so make it an amount you can work with. Best idea is to consider stuff under $100, as it will narrow down your choices and maybe leave some money in your pocket for other fun prom stuff.

Another thing that you should always do when you find your prom dress cheap is to get it altered, no matter how you think it looks on you. Especially if you are going to wear plus size prom dresses, you want to be sure you're getting the dress perfectly tailored to you. It should be someone that you trust and of course has great taste. This can help you when you are trying to decide how to alter your gown and make you look fabulous! You must measure yourself before you hit the internet sites. You need to know your height, bust, weight and other measurements.

You may have to look around for a dress that suits you which could involve looking in specialty stores like plus sized boutiques on the internet. Unfortunately, the price for plus sized wear is more expensive. The fact is, a bit more material has to be used when making the garment. Prices can vary, but stick to your budget, girl!
